Delphes in Madanalysis, lepton PTmin = 10 GeV, how to modify?

Asked by Melissa

Dear developers,

I have a problem, I want to perform a fast detector simulation using delphes. I use the following commands:
set main.fastsim.package = delphes
set main.fastsim.detector = atlas
set main.fastsim.pileup = none
set main.fastsim.output = false
Which, if I am correct, should pick the delphes_atlas.tcl card in de tools/SampleAnalyser/Interfaces/delphes directory.
In my output file, there are no lepton energies with Pt < 10 GeV, but in the atlas card I see no cut / 0 efficiency at lepton energies from 1 - 10 GeV (efficiency reduces only). If I look at the PT distribution, there is a sharp cut at 10 GeV, suggesting this is due to some minPT setting. I can not find this setting though.

I am sure that the low PT leptons are in my inputfile. Futhermore, if I use just a jet clustering algorithm with fastjet, I see low PT leptons, the settings I use are:
set main.fastsim.package = fastjet
set main.fastsim.algorithm = antikt
set main.fastsim.ptmin = 20
set main.fastsim.radius = 0.4

What am I doing wrong here? Could you help me having these low PT leptons in after running delphes?

Cheers,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,

This is strange. You can double check the delphes card that has been used in the
<working directory>/Input
directory. Please verify the efficiencies used in there. You could also check by using delphes externally to madanalysis5 to see whether you reproduce the feature. If this is the case, could you please share 10-20 events *before* using delphes so that I could test on my side.

Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,

The card used is indeed my modified Card with efficiencies I put to 0.99, so this is correct. When I run delphes directly, I have the same problem. I can't upload anything here, so I have send you an email with the events.

Cheers,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,

If you have a problem with a direct running of delphes, I suggest you to contact the delphes authors directly. This is really something happening at the delphes level and not at the ma5 level.

Regards,

Benjamin
