Is there any way of submitting a bug report against Ubuntu?

Asked by Russel Winder

For the last three days I have been trying to report the failure of wifi and bluetooth on my Sony PCG SRX51P/B after the Jaunty -> Karmic upgrade but going to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+filebug/?no-redirect to start the bug report always leads me to the timeout page. Currently the report is (Error ID: OOPS-1413E1248).

The upgrade of Jaunty -> Karmic has been a huge error with lots of bugs and I need to report them if anything is to happen to cure the disaster that is the current state of my Ubuntu machines.

Hi Russel,

This happens due to bug 186262. Launchpad tries to search for similar bugs with the given title, in your case "Sony PCG-SRX51P/B wifi and bluetooth fail to work after Jaunty -> Karmic upgrade", and times out. The temporary workaround for this is to reduce the number of words in the Summary of the first screen so it won't timeout, you can add the title back again in the next step.

We're working on a fix, sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks,

Ursula

maybe it is a kernel issue? have you tried booting the jaunty kernel?

OK I managed to get Bug 482535 for this by initially providing a fatuous, and very short, title and then amending it to something snesible later. Thanks Ursula for pointing me in the right direction.

I have added Daniel's hint that it is a kernel problem to the bug report. As noted there I have managed to remove all previous kernels. This is totally unlike me, I always keep a backup kernel. Except this time :-(
