Import of bug file for staging check - From GoogleCode

Asked by Sean Groarke

As per https://help.launchpad.net/Bugs/ImportFormat wanted to have an import of my GoogleCode bug-list XML file into Launchpad.

It passes the jing validation check.

(Don't see an option to attach a file here - how do I get you the XML file itself?)

Thanks.

Launchpad Answers can't have files attached. You'll need to upload the file elsewhere and give us a link here.

Ah, ok, thanks. It's at:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B92MEJ4JwMGZUVVuUG15XzB2UlU/edit?usp=sharing

And it's for (currently empty bug database) of https://bugs.launchpad.net/npd6

Cheers.

I've done a test import at https://bugs.staging.launchpad.net/npd6. Check that it all looks fine, and we'll do the same on production. Let me know if there are any import issues.

Thanks. Looks not bad. Only item that had me scratching my head was the "Sender" field... This is where I'd managed to get the import-tool to stash a copy of the original reporter - yet as far as I can see it doesn't actually get recorded in a bug?

It's not a big deal - just want to check it's not glaringly obvious. As you can see it's a smallish bug list (about 60....) and of that about 40 are originally from me anyway. I can easily manually update the 20 or so from outside to record the original reporter's email.

So assuming "Sender" is a hidden field, feel free to make this import live.

Last item: earlier did a lovely code import from GCode-svn of my trunk/ and dev/ All the tags and history came across fine. Very happy. Then realised that "Import" was not a one off, but a recurring thing.

In FAQ 26 (https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+faq/26) it tells me that I can ask you to stop/break the import link? Please can we do just that - I intend to solely use Launchpad from now on. The FAQ mentions that if one has multiple branches it's better to use bzr-svn plugin - but I'm perfectly happy with the status of the two. The code is identical (merged prior to import) and only actually imported both to get the full history, tags, etc.

So could you zap the import process for me on project npd6 for both branches? Then I'll be all set yo be a happy Launchpad user!

Cheers.
Sean

The sender is used in comments in the place you'd expect. But your XML
file's sender fields are weird: they always use your email address, but
some of them have other email addresses as the sender *name*.

Every bug's reporter field is also you, which seems slightly suspicious.

I've suspended the two imports. It's not possible to directly turn an
import branch into a writeable hosted branch, so you'll need to grab
both branches locally, rename or delete the import branches on
Launchpad, and push them up again to create new writeable branches.

Many thanks.

I'll re-do the bug xml file after tweaking your google-launchpad-migrator and send it through.

Re. the code import: stopping it, thanks. And noted that I need to re-up it "properly" to make things clean Will do.

I'll wait until I've sent a new xml file and then mark closed if OK with you?

Cheers.

Going to hold off Bug import to Launchpad for now... Thanks for the help so far. Closing the item.
