Ask to create a new translator group

Asked by Job Diógenes Ribeiro Borges

Hello,

We are making the translation for Evergreen - Open ILS to Brazilian Portuguese.
Evegreen is a Information Library System, Library System has many specific terms,
that people need to know before help translations. Unfortunately even if we give a glossary,
people here, does not follow or even read instructions.

At the moment, most of translations are done, and I am doing the review of all entries.
To guarantee a very quality work, I need more control.
Launchpad help [Question #199246]: told me to ask to create a new translation group.
Then I could control the quality of translations.
For that they say to ask here.

Please create a new Translator Group "Brazilian Portuguese - Open ILS - Translator Group"
This group are being created to take care of Evergreen OPEN -ILS project translation to Brazilian Portuguese,
but could take care of any project of the same type.

Thanks

Hi even if you create a new team you still need to work with the evergreen dev team so I would suggest working with them

Hi Laura,

I expose my problem before, and I receive the answer below, so, I did what
your team recommend.
Then, what we need, is that you create a new Translation Group, so our
current admin, could assign
the Evegreen Brazilian Translation to this new Group.

Thanks

Job

Hello there,

in order to be able to fully use the Structured permission for your
project, if you want to assign the "admin" of a specific language to a
single person, you need to create a new translation *group*, not a team,
that will handle the translation of your project.
For more information on this last point, see:

https://help.launchpad
.net/Translations/YourProject/ChoosingAGroup#Creating_your_own_translation_group

Doing so, you will be able to administer the translation for your
project, and all the other projects you will create on Launchpad.

Hello there,

I might have not understood corretly your problem, or my answer was not ver clear.

In order to be able to use a structured permission set for the evergreen project, and then assign the "Evergreen $LANGUAGE Translators" to translate it, it is necessary to first create a *group* that will be like an umbrella for the other teams to join in order to translate evergreen.

This is what the Launchpad Translators [1] and the Ubuntu Translators [2] groups are for.

So, this request is not strictly valid, since you are asking to create a *team*, specific only for the Brasilian translation, and not a general *group* that is not tied to one language.

What I suggest you is to first create a *group* called "Evergreen OpenILS Translators" (and you have to file a Launchpad question for this has described in the page I linked on the other answer), after that has been created, you can create yourself the "Evergreen OpenILS Brasilian Translation" *team*, and the admin of the "Evergreen OpenILS Translators" group can appoint your team as the solely and approved team for translating into Brasilian Portoguese.

This is why you need to check with the Evergreen OpenILS developers first, and also decide who will be the administrator of that group (probably the group that is behind the Evergreen development).

Yes, its what I want. But, I can' t find a way to create a "Translation Group MySelf", and our current project admin either.

Then, if you has the permissions to create a translation group, please do it for us. ILS (Information Library Systems) has many words that has specif meaning, and I have a lot of problems to review. Unfortunately, people does not research before contribute. Young translators or even top translators could make a lot of mistakes when translate words that is not in your area. Its like you reading texts write by lawyers.
Then we need a way to control contributions by trusted reviewers.
Please create an "Open ILS Translators Group".

Thanks
