e-mail interface fails

Asked by Rolf Leggewie

I was trying out the e-mail interface as described in https://help.launchpad.net/Bugs/EmailInterface but it always failed with an OOPS.

FWIW, the exception we get is "IllegalTarget: This bug is already on Ubuntu. Please specify an affected package in which the bug has not yet been reported."

Still, it is a bug that it bombs on you like this, even if the error message is appropriate above.

The problem is that you've not specified a package name, so it's trying to create a new task on Dapper without a package. Have you considered using the API (<https://help.launchpad.net/API>) instead?

Danila, thank you. My commands are as follows:

 bug 66188
 affects ubuntu/dapper
 status wontfix

Bug 66188 has two tasks and I only want to affect the ubuntu/dapper task. What is the correct way to do that then?

Hi Rolf. The email interface does not support what you want to do at this time, because of the problems that William and Danilo described. Using the browser interface or the API would let you do what you need.

Best,

Gary

Rolf, that's a task for Ubuntu Dapper's gnome-session package. "affects ubuntu/dapper/gnome-session" should work. But you should probably still use the API for this.

Can you help with this problem?
