hidden bug reports

I am aware that some Bugs are "hidden". Some months ago I did enter a Bug and it was triaged and hidden.
Why are bugs hidden? Does hiding have value or is it a means of classification?

Only security bugs are hidden.

The rest are simply not in the default search. You can do advanced search to include opinion, invalid, expired and fix released status bugs.
