Label placement option(s) in eeschema

Asked by Olivier (osfe)

Hi,
do you plan on adding some placement options for labels, text and so on ?
My point here, would be to allow something like
_ horizontal left + vertical bottom/middle/top
_ horizontal center + vertical bottom/middle/top
_ horizontal right + vertical bottom/middle/top

I know EDA softwares doing that and I like it.

Thnak you for your help and attention

regards

Olivier

Well, there is already *some* internal support for that, so it could be
done... however, for labels, the attachment point is the electrical
connection for the label and changing that could be misleading.

I'd put it in the wishlist.

Thank you for your answer,
I'm not sure I made myself clear on this point and I sketched a little something in order to make sure I'm understood. This little sketch may be seen here : http://bit.ly/OdJiqK
I don't mean to change the way the electrical connection is made. I like the idea of an electrical anchor that makes sure you can see what the label is attached to. My point here is to make the text move around the anchor as you can see on my little sketch...

Where is the kicad wish-list ?? I'd love to post stuff in it...

Have a good day

Olivier

Yes I got it. What I mean is that usually the label is *above* the wire
and with such anchoring option you could attach it *below* the wire...
with a tight spacing (i.e. bus entries) that could be confusing.

No issues for free form text, the machinery for aligning it is already
ready.

The bug reporter has a level of 'wish' so you could try there. There
isn't an 'official' wishlist, AFAIK
