Text export in linux blue box

Asked by gabrielvc

Hi guys,

I am using a background and then some white boxes with some text on top. The boxes are white, and the text blue, to give contrast. What I am getting, when I read in opera, is white boxes covering some of the text, even though they are behind it in the svg file.

I think this is not due to browser not rendering well, since I get similar problems (now blue boxes all around) when read in Firefox.

thanks!

G

Hi:

Could you attach your svg, or an example svg file with the same problem? Having an example file, I could track down the problem.

Cheers,
Hannes

Thanks a lot, I attach an example file. In firefox I se a black box
surrounded by the red one. In Opera just the red box. This is in a linux
system.

The problem seems to be that "flowed text" as implemented in Inkscape is not part of the current SVG specification. The browsers therefore are not able to interpret it and fail in wonderful - and apparently individually different - ways. A solution for the problem is to convert the flowed text into normal text before publishing the image.

For more details see the following link (provided by Gabriel Villalobos):
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/FAQ#What_about_flowed_text.3F

Can you help with this problem?
