Can't uninstall

Asked by Napkula

I am trying to uninstall InsomniaT, but I don't understand how. The 3.0 installer does not load an Uninstall option in the Preference Pane as stated. I even made sure to do custom installation and select the uninstaller script. I have downloaded the script separately from the site, but it won't execute even as a .command.

I am running 10.6.7 on a 2009 13" MacBook Pro, and after installing InsomniaT it is unusable with an external display and AC adapter plugged in. I am unable to launch System Preferences, and most apps refuse to open. My CPU usage skyrockets as well. If I unpluge from the external display and AC power, the computer behaves normally.

Hi Trajano,

I attempted to manually uninstall per your instructions, but something has
gone very very wrong. Understood that you aren't tech support, but I thought
I'd try to see if you had any ideas. I typed in all relevant sudo commands,
but noted afterwards that only the first asked me for a password. After a
reboot, the machine takes an exceptionally long amount of time to get to the
login in screen, and once it does, I am unable to select my account and
login. The cursor tracks across the screen, but mouse clicks and keyboard
commands do nothing. I tried booting into safe mode, but got the same
result. Some reboots bring up the login screen with a thin translucent tone
of blue over the entire display. Any help would be very very much
appreciated, I'm really not sure what to do now.

Alright, a PRAM reset got me back in business, but the machine is acting as if InsomniaT is still installed (won't auto sleep).

Can you help with this problem?
