Are you using a Path effect on your lines? Try Path > Remove path effects, with the object selected.

What is the 'shape tool'? (node tool?)

Apologies. My problem is when drawing with bezier tool then using node
tool to change the shape it leaves a ghost line behind & forms a new shape
with the after image,

Yes, but I sleep, eat and shower sometimes.... ?!?

I think we won't get very far with text descriptions here.

Can you please:

- make a short video of what you're seeing
- share (complete) info about your Inkscape version, operating system, and a link to a file that is affected

Note that attachments do not work here, please upload your files somewhere else and link to them.

Thank you for solving my problem. Your original advice of Path > Remove path effect worked. In my ignorance I couldn't find the Path button. But it seems ok now.
Enjoy your food, sleep & shower.
