Depends. What is your Inkscape version, and what is your operating system?

Then you need to change the theme by changing your desktop theme (for all applications).

For Inkscape compiled with GTK3 (which you do not have, and will only get for Inkscape 1.0, which isn't released yet), you will be able to set a GTK theme per application:

Aside from this, I would suggest you update your Inkscape version to 0.92.3:

Or if you only want a dark background for the drawing area, go to File > Document properties, and set the background color in the page tab.

Can you help with this problem?
