copy and paste

Asked by Guido

Hello dear helper!

I have two grafics in two windows eclectic.

Now I like to copy one of this grafics into the other window (Control A, C & V) but nothing happens.
Only the software give me the response that, "there are nothing in the temporary storage".

In the other case I can copy and past, but only in the same window and a grafic who is in the same window existing.
And when there are two windows open I can only only paste the grafic in their respective windows.

Well, thanks a lot if you can help me.

Salute
Paul

System: Windows2000, Inkscape 0.46 (this problem I had discribed is since two days)

this is a known issue, it has actually been fixed in the development version of inkscape.

in the stable version of Inkscape:
If you open 2 different instances of Inkscape separately (i.e. you open 2 files from the desktop) then the copy/paste won't work across windows.
If you open 1 instance of Inkscape, and then from within this window open another one through the open menu item, then copy/paste will be possible between this 2 windows.

if you prefer to use a developement version..aka unstable (i use it everyday without any problem, it comes with a lot of fixes.. like the one you need and a lot of new features), here is the link:
