Font always defaults to sans serif

I click on the create and edit font tab, then select the font i wish to use but as soon as click on the page and start to type, it reverts back always to the sans serif font. The you tube videos appear to select a different font and then it stays at the selected style. I have to type in words in sans serif, then highlight and then select the font I wish to use. It is a very annoying way of doing it. Is there something in settings I have missed.

Hi Dianne,

unfortunately, this is a known bug in Inkscape 0.91. Start typing, and only choose a font when there is actually some text as a workaround. Or you could use the previous Inkscape version (see our Download page), but then live with a few other bugs which have since been fixed.
