How to change to CMYK color profile

Asked by Tiffany

I have version 2.0. Is the option to change to CMYK already included with this version? I've read that I need a seperate+ plugin but I am confused about how to install it. Can you advise on how I would take a current file and switch the colors to CMYK? Thanks

Hi Tiffany,

which program do you have in version 2.0? Inkscape's current version is 0.91...

The separate+ plugin is for gimp, not for Inkscape... ?

I am confused about which program you are referring to....

The current status of CMYK in Inkscape is described quite well in this article:

Kind regards,

Oh I'm terribly sorry. I forgot that this was support for inkscape not
gimp. I believe you all recommended GIMP so I was confused. Sorry about
that.

:) - no worries, Tiffany, everyone's confused sometimes ;-)

Maybe this little quote will help:

"unzip, copy 3 exe's to plug-in dir; to find plug-in dir: Edit - Preferences, Folder - Plug-ins"

Kind regards,
 Maren

Yes I've actually found those instructions this morning and have been trying to do just that but I can't seem to find any plugin folder for GIMP

This is my path C:\Program Files\GIMP 2 and all I see are these folders:
bin
etc
lib
python
share
uninstal

I know this is not your support area but if you can just let me know where on earth that plugin folder is I would appreciate it.

You can look up the path inside the program. Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Folders -> Plugins and use the first path that is given there. If the folder doesn't exist yet, just create it (it's very similar with Inkscape, btw. :-) ).

Kind regards,
 Maren

Ok that helped except I see no .exe files in the seperate+ file. Is there a
reason why I wouldn't?

Sorry, Tiffany, no idea if there are separate versions for the separate+ plugin on Win (where .exe files work) and Linux.
I'm on Linux, so I can't help with that. Just try to find the most recent version of the plugin from its official website (which seems to be this one: http://cue.yellowmagic.info/softwares/separate-plus/)
