Saving Problem with Inkscape

Asked by EdCaldwell

After importing a png file and editing as needed I save as "optimized svg." Then when I go to close the image or the program, Inkscape asks me if I want to save as an inkscape svg. Since I already saved it as "optimized svg" I choose no. But then the optimized image is not in the folder where I saved it. It seems as though I can only save as an Inkscape svg.

Is that true? What is the difference between "optimized svg" and an inkscape svg?

Hi Ed,

for me, it works (although it looks as if a translation is empty for the dialog when I close the file...).

Do you get the dialog which asks you for the types of optimizations you want to use for saving as optimized svg (when you first choose 'save as')?

Which operating system are you on (include the version) and which version of Inkscape are you using (if applicable: which file did you download?)

Regards,
 Maren

When saving in Inkscape, I save as "optimized svg." There is no additional dialog box. I'm using Inkscape version 0.91. I believe I downloaded the 64 bit version as well.

I'm using Windows 7 Pro Service Pack 1 64 bit

Thank you, Ed!

Then the missing dialog (only appears when you first save as optimized, so you can choose the ways how the optimization should happen) seems to be part of the problem.

Could you just try once again with a new file (if you haven't already, that is), and if you still don't get the dialog, make this a bug report containing all the info you just gave? (I'm quite sure this isn't reported yet after searching the bugs)

It would be great if you could then help us with diagnostics, as well ;)
The bug managers might ask you for additional info.

Thank you again,
 Maren
