single scan brightness cutoff does not work

I've just tried and it works for me so it doesn't seem to be a bug with Inkscape and looks to be relative to your very picture. Could you please provide us with a link to your picture or explain more in-depth what the problem is ?

Hello. Thank you for responding. The problem is with any picture I attempt to vectorize and change the brightness- it does nothing. However the other options do work...edge detection, color quantization. Could it be a setting or my pc? I have windows 8.

Hi,

It seems like a bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/631444) that was fixed in the trunk version. I have the same issue on my 0.48.4 r9939 build on windows 7. Note that it's the preview that doesn't work, if you apply it even with a blank preview, it should trace your bitmap.

My Inkscape 0.48+devel r12487 build (Linux Ubuntu 13.04) works, so if this bug bothers you, maybe you may try to compile the latest code (http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Compiling_Inkscape_on_Windows), or wait for a release.
