How to contour with inkscape ????

This is frequently asked. You probably want tracing. It works only on simple enough images. If you have some complex photo your best take is to just draw it again.

Corel's jargon is strange. See Path → Object to path or Outline to path.

I also had this same question. No one here has answered it.

I also use Corel Draw at work. I frequently need this function in order to put a cut line around art. Basically I select the entire design or logo or whatever it is, and Contour makes path around the whole thing, which the printer uses to cut around, for stickers and such, and I can change the width of this outline.

I know that Inkscape has Path-Outset, which is almost the same thing, except it makes all the corners curved, which isn't what I want. That might be helpful in some circumstances, but I would like sharp corners.

Is there a way to do this and maintain the original shape more closely?

So you want just the same shape, but bigger ?
