Text not showing fully

When I use the font 'Great Vibes', Inkscape cuts off the top of some upper case letters. When I rotate the text in Inkscape the full letter shows, but not when it is horizontal. It doesn't seem to be anything to do with the font I've downloaded as it works fine in Word. Is it due to some setting that I can change, or is it likely to be a bug?

Are you on Windows? There could be some issues given that it's an OpenType font.

Not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.2 / 0.48.3.1 on OS X Lion and the font 'Great Vibes' downloaded from
<http://www.google.com/webfonts/specimen/Great+Vibes>:

Do you happen to use the text with some filter (e.g. blur, or drop shadow) applied? Or put on a path? Maybe you can share an example SVG file and a screenshot …
