What about "pdfedit"? It can be found in the repo's.

File > Import can be used to open PDF files but it depends how the file was made as to how much you can edit.

OpenOffice.org / Libre Office can import PDF files and edit them too but I think you have to have a plugin (which is in Ubuntu repos IIRC).

Thank you, Tom. I tried pdfedit but it doesn'work with my file. I need
to extract (copy from the .pdf file and paste on another file) sections
of a text which is probably an image in .pdf format.
Still not successfull. Sob.

If this is image you need OCR software (optical recognition), so Inkscape
have no chances here.
