Comment 8 for bug 493588

If I hit the save command in the drop down off the file menu and type in a
file name and hit enter, the file name appears on the top bar. I can
continue working on the drawing and re-hitting the save button updates the
file. Still, no dialog box appears. I was about to give up on the program
but now I have hope.

also, if you pretend the dialog is there, and type in a filename such as
test.svg and hit Enter, does it change the file name on the main
Inkscape screen as it should?

Status in Inkscape: A Vector Drawing Tool: New

Bug description:
Save dialog boxes do not appear on save command. I am using Windows XP SP2
and Inkscape 0.47. The save dialog box does not draw. The program goes into
"waiting for an entry mode" with the usual bonk. I can release this mode by
pressing ESC.
