pto2mk missing

Asked by Anthony

Have used Panorama to stitch photos successfully until last upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS.

Now the 'Welcome to Panorama tool' window opens with :-

pto2mk (binary not found) and cannot proceed further.

file search from / fails to find.

Googling 'ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS pto2mk' returns a request in French referring to pto2mk but my French is not good enough to understand either question or reply

Googling 'Copy of binary pto2mk' gave link to 'How I solved a digiKam panorama hiccup' but then suggests using 'hugin_executor'
which is a command line photo stitcher

          - (my ability to use the command line is virtually zero)

Is there a way of overcoming this problem using graphical interface only?

With thanks,

Anthony

The 'Welcome to Panorama tool' window does not belong to the Hugin tools.
I assume you are referring to the panorama plugin of Digikam. This issue is fixed in digikam already, see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351433
Either update digikam/panorama plugin to newer version or use Hugin (Panorama stitcher/editor) directly.

Thank you for your reply.

Synaptic Package Manager - Hugin - properties = installed version and
latest available version to be the same viz:-

'2015.0.0+dfsg-1' for a newer version.

I have not been able to locate digikam/panorama plugin.

I cannot work out how to use Hugin directly.

May I remind you that my abilities are very limited and prefer to keep
to GUI only.

Any help you can still give will be much appreciated.

Anthony

From the mentioned bug report you need to update your digicam version - the program you are using when the above mentioned windows pop up.
Not sure if the official repository has an up to date version of if they are only hosting an old version.

Hugin has a GUI. Start Hugin, load images, then align and stitch.
So I don't know what you want?

It is no Hugin issue. It's an issue inside digikam. So closing here.
