hplip reports communication error for deskjet 930c although the printer works ok. Am using Ubuntu 9.10.

Whilst the deskjet 930c works ok and prints from Ubuntu 9.10, when I use the HPLIP programme to ascertain ink levels an error 5012 is reported as a communication error. Any ideas how I can fix this. I have ran hp-check -t in the terminal and this reports the pp status as yes and says all packages are ok except for cupsddk-drivers which I cannot get to load.
