hplip-3.9.10 downloaded & Installed, but won't see my system tray. Knowledge base had no help. How do I fix it?
I downloaded and installed your newest hplip-3.9.10 for my HP Officejet 5510 all-in-one on a new upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04 OS. Seems to work O.K., but at boot up, I get an error msg. that HPLIP could not detect the system tray, so that function was turned off. My system tray is operating fine as far as I can determine, so how do I get the program to detect it? Respond <email address hidden>

I have the same problem, my printer is not accessible.
Some one tried to ask for details, so the data dump begins here:

Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 14.3

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Hi,
Thanks for the hp-check output. Installation appears to be everything fine. Also the print queue status is good.
Can you elaborate the problem that you are facing with your printer ?
When you run "hp-toolbox" command in terminal , are you able to view the printer and its functionalities in the toolbox ?
Thanks,
Goutam

I started out with a printer and software that after a complete reload, with some presumably conflicting elements not used, actually printed. Recently, this has changed, the printer system thinks that the printer is printing, the printer does not seem to get the printed material data.
When I loaded that hp-toolbox, (which was not loaded) and printed a test page, the printer did not print anything.
In addition, what brings me to this question was a referral from another question that delt with not having a system tray, and getting an HPLIP message at startup saying that HPLIP was aborting because of no system tray.
That message/
I also have had a message when I update saying that the repositories are not all funtional/found/? (just ran update. No problems noticed. )
I am abandoning Juno.
Please erase my Juno based address from your computer.

Hi Sean,
You are using LinuxMint 10 and the hplip version that is installed in here is 3.11.3a which is quite a old.
Can you please upgrade the hplip version to latest 3.11.10 by following the steps provided for LinuxMint OS at http://
Let us know if the upgrading to the latest version of hplip has solved the problem.
Thanks,
