Does not print

Asked by L0tt0

Print command just causes page after page of blank sheets to be ejected until the tray is empty.

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Ooops, the 5650 was installed by HPLIPS as a 5100.

Everything seems fine except when issuing a print command, whether to print a test page or a page from an application, it prints:

%!PS-Adobe-3.0
                           %%Creator: cairo 1.7.4 (http://cairographics.org)
                                                                                                             %%CreationDate: M

it then proceeds to spit out one sheet of paper after another until the tray is empty.

Hi L0tt0 -

It looks like you're missing a CUPS filter. Unfortunately, we don't support Vector Linux, but I can offer a few hints as to what you may need to get the missing filter.

Try installing these two packages:

libcupsimage2 - Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - image libs
libcupsimage2-dev - Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - image development files

Thank you for supporting HPLIP.

Thanks for the reply, however I am now a thousand miles from that computer/printer. Perhaps I'll get another crack at it in a few months.
