cant install hpDJ3750: Terminal: ’tmp/mozilla_hzogg0/-hplip3.21.12.run’ given, exiting no ‘:’ in the uri
I try to install a new HP deskjet3750, it works with windows op. system. I want to have it with linux ubuntu, version 21.04:
I am prompted to have to install HPLIP.
Hplip is already installed according to terminal:.
I try to install (again?) for the hp deskjet 3750: Now appears:
Invalid url:’tmp/
The printer (HP deskjet 3700 series) appears in the print menu when trying to print , but the jobs remain "pending-" and are not printed.
I do not understand much for LINUX (I just use it) and near nothing with TERMINAL
Thanks for Help Hans Zogg, District Zürich Switzerland

Why HPLIP is not needed on 21.04.
Say whether you are using a USB or network connection.

Thanks a lot for the quick answer.
The printer is connected with an *usb cable* to the LINUX-computer.
I tried to get also a WLAN connection with the printer, but I believe I
was not able to get it. (WLAN connection is not impotant for me at the
moment.

Dear brian,
thanks for the answer-mail.
I have 2 Linux computers. For both:
I opened TERMINAL, $ appeared at the beginning of the line, and I typed
as you wrote,
systemctl status ipp-usb (enter)
(in Computer 1 old) reply: ipp-usb sevice - Daemon for IPP over USB printer support
... some lines end
restarting Terminal, typing
driverless
does not help.
Or (Computer 2 refurb):
systemctl status ipp-usb (enter)
reply: unit ipp-usb.service could not be found
next line: $ typed driverless
does not help either
In both computers:
As before, the 3700_series printer are correctly displayed in settings -
printers, ready, jobs pending, but not printed.

Press and hold the left mouse button in the terminal window and move it over the text which you want to copy, such that the text is shown in reverse colour, and release the mouse button. Then press the right mouse button and you get a pop-up where you can select "copy".
Then move on to https:/

The last output was already useful.
Now please provide the output that you receive for the following commands:
dpkg -l ipp-usb
systemctl --no-pager --full status ipp-usb
driverless
(You should be able to do copy/paste also for the commands from this document into the terminal window.)
By the way:
Are you aware that support for Ubuntu 21.04 has already ended a few days ago?
Ubuntu 21.04 (from April 2021) had only nine months of support period and that is already over. see https:/
I recommend that you do a release upgrade to Ubuntu 21.10 in due course. 21.10 again has only nine months of support, but you can upgrade to the next release Ubuntu 22.04 later this year, and that Long Term Support release will then have five years of support period.

Why do you break the commands into pieces?
There should have been three commands, two of them with additional parameters and options.
I already mentioned that you can copy/paste also into the terminal window.

Yes, that is what we need.
Which one of the two system is that? Which Ubuntu release is running on that one?
Apparently the ipp-usb package is not installed on that computer.

Ok. then let's try installing ipp-usb also on that one:
sudo snap install --edge ipp-usb
After that, what is the output of the commands
systemctl --no-pager --full status ipp-usb
driverless

Dear Manfred, I tried to do as you wrote below. But The HP3750 is still
not printing.
I thought I have to restart the system, but this did not help. My
internet did then not work for some time, so I repeated all. But the
answer from Terminal was: snap "ipp-usb" is already installed, see 'snap
help refresh'.
Below my log-sheet for the details (/my notes in italic/, Terminal
copies notitalic).

Have you ever looked at you question document on https:/
Then you should see that there are no attachments and that there is no "notes in italic".
It seems that the ipp-usb snap version does not work as desired. Let's take a different approach:
Issue the following commands
sudo snap remove --purge ipp-usb
sudo dpkg -i ipp-usb_
systemctl --no-pager --full status ipp-usb
driverless
and report what's happening.

You should not open the link, but you should execute the following command (even if it looks like a link!)
Please do not copy the command from your e-mail, but from the page https:/
It has to be one long command that starts with wget and ends with .deb

Unplug the USB-cable that connects the printer to the PC, wait half a minute and re-connect it.
Then execute the commands
driverless
lpinfo -v
dmesg | tail

done.*does not print*. But prints as usual on my very old HP
psc-1200-series printer
*reconnect now the HP 3750 printer to the other computer**esprimo P410*
(where the printer worked after some trial, but I do not know why),
print something: does not work: "processing". But In the printer-list of
this computer only HP3750 is indicated. After some trials and restart,
in addition Printer HP_deskJet_
this one, printing works
Reconnecting USB printer cable back to the ..om621 printer where you
gave all these helps, on reconnecting appears: a new printer was added,
HP_deskJet_
om621 on top. But Printing works!
Is this permanent? I do not have a good feeling...
But thanks for the help.

For the same Computer with a windows7 part and a Linux part, I tried now
to install a WLAN usb-adapter type
TL-WN8200ND(UN).
With windows7, it works. For Linux, I followed the installation CD.
Ubuntu 16.04LTS, I start at:
_
_
_@2.1 Compilation tool and kernel source_:
TERMINAL, version:
hzogg@w7-
Linux version 5.13.0-27-generic (buildd@
9.3.0-17ubuntu1
#29~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 14 00:32:30 UTC 2022
indicates that I do not have to install gcc (?)
_
_
_@ 2.2 compile the driver_
Then, I do not know how to (with terminal) "go to the driver directory".
I do not dare to use
$ make clean
$ make
since I fear I destroy something, and stopped there.
@Then "after compiling" you can see a "name of the chip.ko file is
*stored in the dir* of the driver". *?*
@3. Load the driver
@ example for 88x2bu.ko wireless driver:
Short version: use insmod
$ sudo insmode 88x2bu.ko
Do I have to replace "88x2b.ko" by "WN8200ND" or "WN8200ND.ko"?
Thanks for your help. Hans

A question on launchpad should deal with a single problem.
The WLAN device and its driver has nothing to do with HPLIP and the printer problem.
I suggest that you close this question as solved (if printing works) and create a new question document for the WLAN problem.
For the WLAN problem please follow https:/
Can you help with this problem?
Provide an answer of your own, or ask Hans Zogg for more information if necessary.
