HP LaserJet Pro MFP m225dw scanner not working in Linux Mint 20.2

Asked by Charles Curtis

I am not able to use the scanner in Linux Mint 20.2. I downloaded and ran the hplip-3.21.8.run file for Linux Mint and ran it. When I try to install the HP plugin I get the following output. Please help.

Hi Brian,

1) I installed sane-airscan.

2) The results for running scanimage -L are:

charles@XX:~$ scanimage -L
device `hpaio:/net/HP_LaserJet_Pro_MFP_M225dw?ip=192.168.1.99' is a
Hewlett-Packard HP_LaserJet_Pro_MFP_M225dw all-in-one

3) The results I get for running airscan-discover are:

charles@XX:~$ airscan-discover
[devices]
charles@XX:~$

4) FYI I had installed some trial software called Vuescan and I was able
to scan an image, but they wanted $100 for the software so I uninstalled
it. I am hoping that I can use the default scan software or some open
source software wit the scanner.

I hope this helps you figure out my issue. Thanks.
