Error message when attempting to scan using CM1017 in Linux

In Linux, Mandriva 2009.1, when clicking the Scan icon in Hp Device Manager I get the following error message:

Failed to open device 'hpaio:/net/HP_Color_Laserjet_CM1017?ip=192.168.1.200': Invalid argument.

Please run hp-check -t and post the output.

Also run:

su -c "tail -f /var/log/syslog"

then try and scan and post all of the output in the syslog.

Mandriva 9.1 is very old and we no longer test or provide technical assistance on it. However, please run hp-check and it will give you some hints as to what the problem is.

More than likely in the file /etc/sane.d/dll.conf it is missing the line "hpaio". You could try adding it and scanning again.

Although you may have some other configuration problems--Mandriva 9.1 is very old..

Please be advised that the Mandriva release is 2009.1, not 9.1. 2009.1 is
Mandriva's latest operating system.

I'm heading out of town and won't be able to try this again until I return
at the beginning of the week.

Your device does not have the required plugin installed.

error: Required plug-in status: Not installed

Run:

hp-plugin

to install the plugin. This should resolve your problem.

Is it possible to install the latest version of HPLIP (3.9.4b)? We've made some changes to the plugin that may fix this.

Please note: hp-scan does not currently support the CM1017.
