HPLIP

unable to install hplip-3.9.4b on RHEL4,

During the make portion of the install, it fails with Status code 2.

In the install log, it shows

libtool: link: unsupported hardcode properties^M
libtool: link: See the libtool documentation for more information.^M
libtool: link: Fatal configuration error.^M
make: *** [hpijs] Error 1^M

error: 'make' command failed with status code 2

Is hplip-3.9.4b supported on RHEL4? Is there an older version I should try? I looked for an older version to download, but couldn't find one.

As far as I remember, we've never supported RHEL 4.

These instructions _might_ be helpful (perhaps with some tweaks):
