used this answer to install succeeded

Just download the http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.17.6-plugin.run file (by using "save target as..." or similar options in your browser), change its access mode to executable (chmod +x hplip-3.17.6-plugin.run) and execute that file (./hplip-3.17.6-plugin.run). (changed 3.17.6 to 3.20.11)

I don't understand your instructions at the end "(changed 3.17.6 to 3.20.11)
I have executed the downloaded, changed file permission to "executable" to run. I still cannot print. I selected the plugin file I downloaded from the link you provided but the process stopped there (ie cannot click 'Next') to continue.

Please bear with me as I'm not familiar with this type of printing problems. Is it possible for you to give me detailed step by step and commans where necessary to point to the correct plugin file please?

Thanks very much

I don't understand why 3.17.10 is still there when I installed 3.20.11 which made clean and removed the old version?
I am at a total loss here. Please help.

I recommend these to read here: https://www.fosslinux.com/1547/install- ... ary-os.htm

And here: https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imag ... g/gethplip

My problem was that the plugin installer file (with the .run extension) was not executable so I changed that (logged in as sudo and in the correct directory) using:

chmod +x hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run

I understand you did the same

next I ran the plug-in installer again in the correct directory
sh hplip-3.20.11-plugin.run

Hopes this help

Hi
Unfortunately, the printer only printed one document right after I did the
hplip-3.20.11.run. It does not print subsequent documents sent. It remained
as Idle and Accepting Jobs.

Sorry for premature good news :(

Bakker: I too used your direction , How sweet it is ! Mint 19.3 - HP LaserJet - Pro - M148- M149 hplip-3.20.11.
However, I'll mention it was a nightmare getting my head around the process needed to accomplish the job. I won't tell you how many square one startups it took. Without help I would had never, never had a scanner. Thank you :-)

Best regards,

Delano

Just download the http://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.17.6-plugin.run file (by using "save target as..." or similar options in your browser), change its access mode to executable (chmod +x hplip-3.17.6-plugin.run) and execute that file (./hplip-3.17.6-plugin.run).
