Mistake on "Supported Printer Models" website

Asked by Maximilian Trummer

I believe I found a mistake on the website listing supported HPLIP devices[1]. It says my device (LaserJet M227) needs no proprietary driver plugin, however it does need it for scanning. Merely printing works without the plugin. It's perhaps the same for all devices from that series (M227-M231, M148-149) but I don't have them all here so I can't test it myself.

I tried contacting the Developer Program through the website but was directed here.
Who can I contact for website errors? Let's hope this correct here.

*Whoever's responsible for the website should please correct the mistake for M227-M231, M148-149 - they do require a proprietary plugin for scanning*

Don't confuse a plug-in required for printing and a plug-in required for scanning.

I don't. The linked KB article has a (seemingly non-exhaustive) list of devices requiring the plugin[1].
You can see that there are many devices like the series listed in the OP where it is only required for scanning.
Examples:
HP LaserJet 400 MFP m425dn
HP Color LaserJet MFP m277n

You will see that they are listed as requiring the proprietary plugin on the "Supported Devices" website, even though it's only for scanning.

There is a very similar question from 2017 here:
https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/659812

Although trivial to fix, the info on the website is still wrong, despite requiring the plugin even for printing for the M130nw.

I suppose HP doesn't want to fix mistakes on their websites :(

Maybe creating a bug report helps more than this question document.
