I upgraded to 20.04. Now my HP ENVY 4520 doesn't work. Device communication error (5012). Tried all the fixes on ask ubuntu with no success. Can you point me in the right direction.

Asked by Chuck Diebold

I upgraded two of my laptop computers from Bionic Beaver 18.3 to Focal Fossa 20.04. (both being LTS). Since the upgrade, my HP ENVY 4520 stopped printing. I have tried connecting to my internet connection and also direct with a USB cable. I know the printer is OK because it still works with a HP laptop with Bionic Beaver Operating System, as before. These computers are 100% Ubuntu as I removed Windows at least 4 months ago. One laptop is a new Dell latitude 3340 and the other is a Acer Aspire V5 Netbook

I am not as experienced as most of the community, but I'm more than willing to do what you recommend. Any help will be very appreciated.

Thank You in advance,

Chuck

I have one of those. Have it on the network with a wireless connection
and give the output of 'driverless'.

Cheers,

Brian.

I didn't see your post, and not sure if this is the correct way to correspond with you. Today I removed 20.02 and reinstalled Bionic Beaver. Everything is now working once again. Thank's for your help and input.

After spending too much time on this problem, I decided to remove Focal Fossa and restore Bionic Beaver to my 2 computers. I'm now printing again.
