Computer is AMD FX-8350 8 core 64K 8 GB Ram
Running Linux Mint 18.3 KDE Edition - uptodate

package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper
dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check
both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Hi,

I have gone through your query and it looks like it is not any dependency issue.
Can you please provide me the following logs
1) syslog.
It will be there in the path /var/log/syslog.

2) Output of hp-setup -g
steps:
hp-setup -g > hp-setup_log

3) error_log for cups
path: /var/log/cups/error_log
How to enable cups log :
-> go to /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
-> Change the Loglevel from warn to debug2 and save the file.
-> restart the cups before adding the printer using hp-setup - /etc/init.d/cups restart

Please clear the logs before adding the printer using
1)cp /dev/null /var/log/syslog.
2)cp /dev/null /var/log/cups/error_log.

Thanks
Pranavateja

Hi Kasoju Pranavateja

Thanks for the advice

I think I have followed the instructions (possibly Correctly but I am
not good with accessing the root files)

I have attached the logs as requested - nb 'error_log1.txt' is from
yesterday and seemed to have more info

I can now access HPLIB status service but unfortunately the set default
printer options will not stay changed and returns to the 'original'
options from setting up the printer.

Any ideas or should I just put-up with re-setting every time I need a
different print setting

regards

Mervyn

Hi Mervyn,

Iam still not able to see any attachments, there will be an option to upload files/attachments. Try uploading the files using that option.

Thanks
Pranavateja

Hi Pranavateja

I have changed  the three txt files to .doc format

Let me know if you still can't see them.

I am using Thunderbird as usual with no other attachment problems

Does your system block some attachments? or send them to spam?

regards

Mervyn
