deskjet 3755 scanner driver

Asked by Ken

I swear I did have this scanner working in Linux before. It is connected via USB and over local ethernet.
Anyhow, I am actually using Linux MX-16 but most of it is Ubuntu friendly.
Ubuntu and MX-16 bother have the printer driver and it automatically installs it.
What I cannot get working now, is the scanner part. It simply says no scanner is installed. How does one determine a scanner driver in Linux exists and how to install it?
I do have HPLIP installed, but I see no tools or configuration to help.

I installed both SimpleScan and ScantoPDF is preinstalled and reinstalled. Perhaps there is an outside project I need to get scanning to work again.

THANKS for any help you can offer.

Hi Ken,

Linux MX-16 is not supported by HPLIP. So the scanner will not be able to perform its functionalities. But you have mentioned that the scanner used to scan properly before. So on which operating system you were able to perform scan?

And also try installing the below command:
This will install the XSANE packages

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xsane

Thanks,
Afshan

I could swear it was my old MX-16 but here is the thing.

HP Lip is supported and I do have it installed, but when I try to
install it, I think that HP has corrupted HP-LIP to no longer function
in MX-16. To most things MX-16 and Xubuntu are the same. I do not see an
HPLIP in Symantic. I do see a HP Support Utility, and here on the XFCE
Panel is my HP blueprinter manager software, which shows the printer,
but not the scanner. XSANE is what I am told to install but it is
already installed, updated etc.

So I am with you on the fact that HPLIP directly from HP does give you
warnings and errors when installed from the terminal. It does install.
Now I have not approached it in CUPS yet, and maybe that is the
solution. So I guess it is time to logon to CUPS in the web browser and
see what it thinks. I know I could just use it in Virtual Box, and I
plan to get that all back up soon, but I swear I had it working in
Scan2pdf. ans SimpleScan. But not now. Is there any hope to see a driver
in the near future?

I did have a Canon MX-310 and that worked, but I have since sold that
because I was pleased that this new one worked. I do have it connected
here bpth USB and Wireless.

Well we shall have to see where it goes from here.
