Installation error 255

Asked by jdiddy

Hey all. I'm trying to get my Laserjet 6L running on Ubuntu 6.06. I screwed something up during the first installation, and decided to try it again. I ran make uninstall and followed all of the instructions about how to remove it.

Now, when I try to install hplip, I receive an error 255 when it tries to install anything related to python.

If I run:

sudo aptitude install --assume-yes python-qt4

It shows that its trying to start hplip and it fails.

Thanks in advance.

Please run hp-toolbox -g and post the last 20 or so lines of output.

Also run hp-check -t and post that output as well.

Thanks!

Aaron

Thanks, Aaron! I realized that I ran hplip-3.9.2.run as root and that screwed everything up. Whoops.

In the meantime, I re-formatted and did a clean install as I was impatient. (It was a clean install to begin with, so no worries). Now I have other problems getting things configured.

Should I submit another question or continue with the new problem in this one?
