does xsane support officejet J6480

Asked by bb

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 and HP all in one officejet J6480. I installed is as a fax (as the only options were fax or printer).

It does not appear that Xsane supports this scanner. I looked at all supported HP scanners on SANE's website and could not find J6480. If it does not, then is there another software package I could use?

Thanks,

bb

Officejets are supported by HPLIP. Follow the instructions here:

Thanks you for the pointer to additional instructions. I did have HPLIP installed.

It appears that the problem I was having was due to the office jet driver being installed as fax only. I added the office jet also as a printer and once the printer driver was installed, the xsane software recognized it as a scanner. Problem solved.
