What distro? Are you doing a manual install or using the automatic
installer?

I'm running ubuntu 8.10. The directions say to run the make command. After I run it I get "make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop." So, i ran "apt-get install hplip" and the software was installed. After the software was installed I had to run "sudo apt-get install python-qt3" so the GUI installation would start for setting the printer up. The GUI was able to find the printer by it's ip address. There were about four different print drivers to choose from. I choose the 4400 but an error was returned when I tried to print the test page. I'm going to run the setup again and choose a different model printer. Hopefully this will resolve the problem.
