System lock when switching to different work space

Asked by spudicus

I'm running Compiz on Ubuntu 8.04. I have a 7760 Photosmart HP printer. I installed the package and now I have an HP icon in the top left corner that I can not move and it only appears in my first workspace. When I switch workspaces my whole system locks up. I have to believe it was the HP driver since all was fine before I installed it.

The printer works great now by the way. :) Just need to be able to switch workspaces. I can't get any dump info since the only way out is to reboot the system. I have not tried to access the system from another machine though. It could be gnome just frozen now that I think about it. Any advise would be highly appreciated.

I just found when I minimize the HP icon to the taskbar I get workspace rotation back. Not really a fix but a work around. Let me kow if you have any other ideas.

try running the qt4 version of the system tray icon (you will have to have
qt4/pyqt4 support for this). You can run it with: hp-systray --qt4. The qt3
version of the system tray has some assorted issues...
