Cannot load a print driver for HP Photosmart C4380

Asked by Charles

I have an Acer Aspire One with Linpus Lite on it. I wish to install Print drivers for my HP Photosmart C4380. I can find & download the HPLIP, but how do I install it to print using a USB printer cable from laptop to printer?
I know Windows & DOS, but no Linux / Unix skills.
I have tried several times. The Printer seems to install but then will not print

I'm working on the install instructions for linpus, however it's seeming to be more difficult than I was anticipating. I'm hoping to have a working set of instructions within the next week or so and I'll be updating all of the linpus tickets with information on how to install HPLIP at that time.

We value our customers and hope to have this resolved soon.

Sorry for the delay and inconvenience.

While not getting - or needing - all the functionality that I get under
Vista ( even there I have not installed all of what is offered by HP ) I
have managed to install my HP Photosmart C4380.

I read some of the American Magazine reviews of the Aspire One A110. All
were very complimentary.

Advice was to use the Hpijs driver not the Hplip. That was fun, as I could
only find old versions of this so I downloaded Hplip. I also downloaded the
ppd for the Photosmart C4380

I recommend, particularly for Linux newcomers like me, Geri Druckman of
LinuxJournal.com. From this I learned that it may be necessary to load the
printer from Root.
Go to Files, My Files,
then from the Tasks headings select File then Terminal.
In Terminal type xfce-setting-show & hit Return
Open Desktop & copy in hplip-2.8.9.run then hit Return
This opens a Command Prompt Window that shows the running executable file.

When prompted for the version of Linux take the Fedora option

My project for next month is to upgrade the RAM to 1.5 GB & the "Hard disk"
by 32 GB. I have already doubled it to 16 GB with an 8 GB SDHD I had doing
nothing as it did not work in my fancy cellphone.

I hope my comments are useful & I would be grateful for your critique of the
above

Regards

Charles Turnbridge

When given the opportunity select the ppd file down loaded for the HP
Photosmart C4380
