scanning cm 1312 nfi

Asked by henrus

Hi,

I am looking into buying a CM 1312 NFI.

The information regarding this model is somewhat confusing:

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/release_notes.html says

HP Color LaserJet cm1312nfi MFP (LJColor, Postscript) (Note: Scanning not supported in this release)

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/supported_devices/color_laserjet.html

Scan to PC (3) = YES

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/models/color_laserjet/hp_color_laserjet_cm1312nfi_mfp.html

Scan = NO

Please give me an idea of what IS working and whether there are plan to support this machine - and to what extend.

Regards, Henrik

The page at:
http://hplip.sourceforge.net/supported_devices/color_laserjet.html
is incorrect. Scanning is not currently supported.

Dear dwelch91,

thanks for your quick response.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel, i.e. plans to support this product through hplib?

Are there technical issues which make it difficult or impossible?

I am willing to wait and spend some effort, but need a perspective to do so.

Regards, Henrik

Henrik,

We are working on supporting scan on this printer in the future. I can't give you a specific ETA..but I will say hopefully soon.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP!

Sandra,

I have seen several posts from you in regard to scanning support for the HP Laserjet CM1312 MFP series. Our latest release of HPLIP (ver 2.8.10) has added scanning support for this and several other products.

You can go to http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/release_notes.html for a complete listing of newly supported devices in the 2.8.10 release.

We regret any inconvenience this may have caused and trust that this newest HPLIP release will solve your problems.

Sirs,
last year I bought a cm1312nfi MFP and I could both print and scan. Now, after upgrading to Ubuntu 9.04, which offers a recent version of HPLIP (3.9.2), I can print but not scan.

Technical details:
1) scanimage -L
device
`hpaio:/usb/HP_Color_LaserJet_CM1312nfi_MFP?serial=00CNB887VNKR' is a
Hewlett-Packard HP_Color_LaserJet_CM1312nfi_MFP all-in-one

(2) running hp-scan from command line recognizes the scanner:

Using device:
hpaio:/usb/HP_Color_LaserJet_CM1312nfi_MFP?serial=00CNB887VNKR

but I receive an error message:

except scanext.error, e:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/hp-scan", line 667, in <module>
    sane.reportError(e)
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'reportError'

and the programme exits. Using xsane I get an error of I/O.

I posted yesterday the same question of the sane-devel list, but I got no answer, so I gather it must be an HPLIP issue, not a sane / xsane problem.

Thanks for any suggestion. It is a frustrating situation -- upgrading should improve things!

Best regards,
Guido

Problem solved upgrading from version 3.9.2 (the one provided by Ubuntu 9.04) to the most recent version (3.9.4b). Now I'm testing the scanner, but it seems to be all OK again.

Best regards,
Guido
