HP 6980 Install issues

 Ubuntu 8.04
                - the Hardy Heron - released in April 2008.

HP 6980 wireless

When i drop the command sh hplip-2.8.7.run into the command line i get the following:
ray@Ray-desktop:~$ sh hplip-1.2.8.7.run
sh: Can't open hplip-1.2.8.7.run
ray@Ray-desktop:~$

the file is on desk top. what am I missing here?

You must run the file like this:

ray@Ray-desktop:~$ sh ./hplip-1.2.8.7.run

the ./ is required so that sh will find the file.

still doesnt function

seriously need help now, GF is so pissed she cant print!

HPLIP comes with Ubuntu Hardy.

You could try running:

sudo apt-get install python-qt3

and then to configure the printer:

sudo hp-setup
