Unable to download necessary programs when I use 'sh hplip-2.8.7.run'

Asked by L W Randerson

Trying to install an HP cp1518 and Series 1310 printers. Downloaded the drivers for each and entered sh hplip-2.8.7.run each time. Got error messages that some parts needed by drivers were missing: glibc make gcc-c++ python-devel cups-devel net-snmp-deve . . . etc. Where can I obtain these missing programs? I do not have a DVD for SuSE 11.0.

You'll want to disable the cd repository in Yast and enable the online repositories. You can see this document for more information:

Aaron's response enabled me to load the drivers. Thereafter, I was able to
set up the printer satisfactorily. My problem was resolved. Thank you
