P1005

Asked by Patrick

I am running a fedora 7 machine and I cannot install my new printer LaserJet P1005
I installed hplip 2.8.7

Then hp-tool seems to recognize the printer but I get: Error: no device found or unsupported device
hp-setup says:
no device found, Please make sure ....................
Then I can find manually:006:006
1 device found serial NO BB07BPM, device URL hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_P1005?serial=BB07BPM
Then I choose:
/etc/cups/ppd/HP_LaserJet_P1005.ppd
Description:

Then I get: Printer Error Printer is busy, offline, or in an error status, Please ................
error: Unsupported model: HP_LaserJet_P1005

lsubs gives me: Bus 006 Device 006: ID 03f0:3d17 Hewlett-Packard
(It is the printer)

What should I do ?

hp-check comes with hplip 2.8.7. If you don't have it I'm thinking there was an incomplete install. Try:

rm -rf /usr/share/hplip

and then install hplip 2.8.7 again.

Hope this helps.
