HP ColorLaser 2605dn Can't print.

Asked by Roger

Using CentOS 5.2. hp-check shows no errors in dependencies under, 'User interfaces Application dependencies' ( ghostscript, gcc, make). Checking CUPS shows scheduler is running. Checking existing CUPS queues show the printer - its IP address and HPLIP as not installed.

hp-check does state that if HPLIP is not installed the 'hp' or 'hpfax ' backends must be installed and to refer to the install instructions on the main sourceforge webpage for further help. My VERY basic knowledge of Linux was unable to find anything of tangible help (I'm not even sure what a backend is!)

However, when performing the initial install, I had 5 dependencies errors; one of which was libpthread. This does not appear in the error list from HP-check.

Could you please copy/paste the hp-check log or output in a reply? Thanks.

Hi dwelch91

Thanks for your reply.

Following is the file, hp-check .

I did try the manual install method; which also did not work but at
least gave me the consolation of reducing dependencies from 5 to 2.

I tried, yum install libpthread, but got the response that there was no
such package available. It is not on my CentOS DVD either.

Regards

Roger

1.6.7 is a very old version of hplip. Please try install hplip 2.8.7 and see if you have better results.

Thanks!

Aaron
