i cant seem to dowvload and installhplip2.8.7 im running ubuntu 7.10 gutsy i tried every thing on down load page it says error no executable files see usr config

please help i just installed ubuntu 7.10gutsy off live cd i have a hp deskjet f4280all in one printer i went to linux down load and install page for hplip2.8.7 driver did every thing it told me to do for some reason it wont in stall this is what i get hplip-2.8.7/bb_build.inc

hplip-2.8.7/config.guess
hplip-2.8.7/install-sh

Do you have the "build-essential" package installed? Could you try using the
installer (it should resolve issues like this automatically).

how do i use the build essntial package manager please ex plain im new to ubuntu so could you tell me what to do in lamens terms and thank you for responding i really apreciate it

ran auto matic installer and it worked dont know why but this time it worked however i can not run hp device manager have the symbol in accesiries but will not work but i can print and scan now

Try running "hp-toolbox" in a terminal/console. What does it say? Do you get
an error message?

i dont know if im doing this right but i went to terminal and this is what it did john@john-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get run hp-toolbox
[sudo] password for john:
E: Invalid operation run
john@john-desktop:~$

To run hp-toolbox in terminal run:

hp-toolbox

not: sudo apt-get run hp-toolbox.
