HP Icon for the monitoring system is on desktop and not in the menu bar.
I lost my top menu bar during configuration of some programs and the icon for the HP monitoring system dropped onto my desktop and into the upper left hand corner. Is there a way to put it back into the menu bar on the top or bottom? I will be upgrading to fedora 9 soon so this would help clean things up. Thanks no rush...

I notice that when I am navigating through desktops it shows it as a window in the upper left corner if that possible helps. I think it has repositioned it as a window instead of an icon in the menu bar and placed it on the desktop...

If you right click on the hplip systray and click close does it exit?
and then open a terminal and run hp-systray.
For the screenshot you can just click PrintScreen on your keyboard and it should take a screenshot, then you can email it to me like any attachment.
Hope this helps!

When I clicked exit it closed the little icon in the upper left hand corner, then I ran the hp-systray and this is what I got - $ hp-systray

error: Unable to lock /home/micro/
...is it still running. Maybe that is the problem. It's still running so all my fixes can't reset it to the top menu bar?

Okay. I'm working on the install instructions for fedora 9 and I'll post those for you soon as I get them worked out.

I can't explain it but from your screenshot it appears to be KDE4...If you are going to be using Fedora 9 soon maybe give that a try? We know there is a problem with kde4 and to fix this in kde4:
Edit .desktop file /etc/xdg/
so it should appear as "hp-systray --qt4".
Hope this helps.
Aaron
