HPLIP

scanner support for HP J6410

In http://hplip.sourceforge.net/models/officejet/officejet_j6400_series.html I can see that scanning is not supported for the J6410. I wonder if this is planned sometime in the future ?

Edit the file /usr/share/hplip/models.dat

Find the section:

[officejet_j6400_series]

and change the scan-type section to the below:

scan-type=1

This is resolved in the next release sorry about that.

Hi Laurent,

Did the instruction about editing the /usr/share/hplip/models.dat

 above; provided by Aaron Albright, enabled the officejet_j6400 to scan?

I am thinking about getting the officejet_j6400, but would like to make sure that all 4 features are working with Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 before buying one.

I don't know. I have not bought the printer yet. My question was theoretical because I am interested in buying it... If I do, I will keep you posted. But the answer of Aaron Albright suggests that it is supported
