How to get dependencies solved

Asked by Klaus

I am running OpenSuse 10.1
my printer is HP Deskjet D1460

I downloaded the "hplip-2.8.2.run" and started with "sh hplip-2.8.2.run"
After I while I got missing dependencies...

Problem: I have no network connection on my system and would download the missing software manually on an other system.

Could I install normal source packages or must I use the rpms to get dependency checking solved correctly for the autoinstaller???
Or are anywhere the rpm packages available for suse 10.1 which needed for the printer driver auto package?

Actually requested from the system:

warning: There are 3 missing OPTIONAL dependencies.
note: Installation of dependencies requires an active internet connection.
warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency for option 'network': libnetsnmp-devel (libnetsnmp-devel - SNMP networking library development files)
warning: Missing OPTIONAL dependency for option 'fax': reportlab (Reportlab - PDF library for Python)
error: This installer cannot install this dependency for your distro/OS and/or version.
warning: Missing OPTIONAL dependency for option 'base': cups-ddk (cups-ddk - CUPS driver development kit)
error: This installer cannot install this dependency for your distro/OS and/or version.

Sorry, I am only a stupied user not system guru... I hope you could give me a kick to the solution!

Thanks a lot!
 Klaus

Klaus,

All of these dependencies are optional. Unless you need a to print to a network printer or use fax you can continue to install HPLIP and your usb connected printer should work correctly regardless.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, yes, with manually installed "single function only" mode I could print now. Fine!

But if I want to get the other stuff to run, what should I do?

Two of the missing dependencies are optional, so no worries there. The
required missing dependency is required for network I/O, so if you are using
USB, it is not needed. Just no a "custom" install and turn off network
support (the networking option).
