Cannot not print ps files by any method

Kernel: 3.13.0-45-generic
HPLIP-Version: HPLIP 3.15.2
HP Deskjet 6980

hp-doctor showed no problems

hp-check -t all OK except
Deskjet_6980

where PMCan't detect file type is the result of lpr tst.ps attempt before running hp-check.

When I (or a program such as Mathematica) try to print a ps file I get popup messages of job starting and job finished but there is no printer output the job remains in the queue until lprm it. emacs prints buffer but will not postscript print buffer.

If I open hp-toolbox then under the printer control tab I see the job as in the Job Queue with Status Stopped.

In short I cannot seem to get a postscript file to print in way

Hi,

Can you provide us some log files to ananlyze this issue.
Please run command su -c'hp-logcapture' / sudo hp-logcature in terminal to capture the log files and attach the hplip_troubleshoot_logs.tar.gz to https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/262756/+makebug

Tnk goutnam for the response but I am having a problem with providing the information requested:

I created a hplip_troubleshoot_logs.tar.gz file and went to the htpts://..../+makebug page. Unfortunately I do not seem to be able to see a way to "attach" the log file.

What do I do to attach the file to the bug report?

I am sending email to <email address hidden> with the file attached

Hi Goutam,

I tried to do the steps in your message below could not figure out how
to attach the the log file to the web page. I tried sending email to
<email address hidden> but that came back as no such bug

I am attaching the file here.

Hi again Goutam,

After emailing you the log file I looked at the some of the filters in
/usr/lib/cups/filter/

83 ~/tmp/hplip_troubleshoot_logs >/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops
Usage: /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstops job-id user title copies options [file]

84 ~/tmp/hplip_troubleshoot_logs >/usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftopdf
Usage: /usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftopdf job-id user title copies options [file]

BUT

85 ~/tmp/hplip_troubleshoot_logs >/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstopdf
DEBUG: pstopdf 0 args:
DEBUG: PPD:
ERROR: /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstopdf job-id user title copies options [file]

clearly behaves differently. Perhaps that is where the problem lies?
