HP laserjet 1018 communication error

Asked by Siavash Sefidvash

Hello, I am pretty sure this is a driver issue. Nevertheless it seemed more appropriate to post it under hardware.

I am having problems getting a HP 1018 laserjet printer to work with my Linux Mint 17. I have already used this solution. to install the driver.

http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/in ... index.html

It installs without any errors. It also printed out one test page post installation. But does not print anything after that. I have experienced the same issue with same printer on another machine with Mint 17 on it.

I hope someone can help as this is relatively a critical issue.

HPSLIP is now installed as the following command shows

apt-get install hplip
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
hplip is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
siawacsh@sager ~ $

But when I type

hpslip-info I get communication error

hpinfo

Hi,

Can you please try the following commands.

1. Remove the existing print queue using 'hp-setup -r' command from the terminal.
2. Download and install the latest HPLIP 3.15.2 release from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html. Installation instructions can also be found in the same page.
3. Re-configure the queue using 'hp-setup' from the terminal.

Let us know if the problem still persists.

Thanks and Regards,
Srikanth Lokare

Hello, apologies for the late reply. This was the first opportunity I had
to try out your fix. I went through all the steps described. But
unfortunately it did not work. Here is the terminal output

siawacsh@sager ~ $ hp-setup
