wireless connection error 5012 for hp 4630

Asked by Nancy Heins

Have Ubuntu 12.04
Printer is HP Officejet 4630
Printer is currently connected with usb to my computer but am trying to configure my sons computer to access the printer wirelessly. Installed hplip 3.14.4 and ended up with the error shown below.

Tried to do manual delivery and enter IP address like one of the answers said above but I don't know what the printers IP address is. I am new to Linux so I need specific instruction as I am still very unfamiliar with how to use the terminal. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Nancy,

Please go through the instructions at this link http://hplipopensource.com/node/365 to get the IP address of the printer and configure it over wi-fi.

Let us know if you still have problem.

I found the IP address however entering 'hp-setup <IP address>' in the
terminal window gave me a syntax error.

Any suggestions?

Nancy, do what they're suggesting but don't add the <> before/after your IP address when running the commands, just hp-setup IP Address
Trust me; I got the exact same responses you did and then realized to do it without the <>. Then it worked like a charm...

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Nancy Heins for more information if necessary.
